Indian Vice President honours Vidya Balan with Rajat Kamal

Vidya Balan is still not done with basking in the dirtiness of her ‘The Dirty Picture’ and she is still adding more and more feathers to her crown. Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari awarded Vidya Balan with the Best Actress National Award, the Rajat Kamal, at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi for her bold and unmatched performance in ‘The Dirty Picture’. The event was hosted by actors Vinay Pathak and Saumya Tandon.

Vidya was accompanied by her parents. Her beau Siddharth Roy Kapur was also there to receive award for Chillar Party (Best Children’s Film) on behalf of UTV.
The audience went berseck in applauding Balan as she ascended the stage looking as graceful as ever in a rose pink-coloured Kanjeevaram saree, minimal make-up and chandelier earrings.
“I am extremely humbled. This (National Award) is the highest honour for any actor, and I feel happy and humbled and I just wish that the team of The Dirty Picture was with me to share this moment. This is truly humbling,” Vidya Balan told reporters after receiving the award.
Among other winners, actor Sanjay Suri and director Onir received the Best Hindi Film prize for I AM, and Marathi actor Girish Kulkarni was this year’s Best Actor for Deool.
